Data packs and mods

Almost everything in the game is data: players, tours, events, venues, sponsors, kit, commentary, stories and the colours of the screens. A mod, called a data pack on phones, adds to it or changes it.

Installing a pack#

  • On Windows: Main menu → Mods. Import a pack from its zip, or open the mods folder and copy it in. On Steam, subscribe to packs in the Workshop.
  • On a phone: Main menu → Data packs → Import a data pack, and pick the zip.

Each pack’s card shows what it is, who made it, what it adds and, if it replaces the base game’s players, what it replaces. Switch a pack on or off from its card.

Packs and your careers#

  • When you start a new career, the Ready step lets you choose which packs it uses. Different careers can use different packs.
  • A career keeps its own copy of the data it started with, so changing your packs changes new careers, not the ones under way.
  • Load Career lists each career’s packs.
  • Deleting a pack that careers use asks first, and names the careers.
  • When a pack brings out a new version, careers that use it are offered the update. When the game updates.

Making your own#

The Mod Docs explain how to make packs, with a step-by-step first pack, a full reference and example packs to download. On Windows, the in-game Mod Studio builds packs with forms, and you can publish them to the Steam Workshop from the Mods screen.
